Role Responsibilities
These are the essential functions of the position but not limited to these activities:
- To hook, move, relocate and spot whiskey, whiskey barrels and other goods in circus wagons or in trailers, tankers to and from various locations.
- Keep Certificate Card in possession always.
- Prepare or assist in preparing loads, including Hazmat Tankers for shipments which require inspection placards and/or weighing to help maintain an efficient use of the tractor.
- Have knowledge of safety regulations and follow all State and Federal laws regarding driving.
- Must follow all laws and regulations promulgated by the Department of Transportation.
- Inspect daily and report any malfunctions that would impair the proper use of the tractor.
- Must be able to” head up” full barrels with the assistance of a helper.
Additional Role and Responsibilities
- Must maintain equipment in a clean and orderly manner as time permits.
- Must have ability to check and adjust oil level, water level, tire pressure, and brakes.
- Maintain open communication with all concerned parties associated with daily operations (e.g. Road conditions, equipment needs, loading/unloading issues, etc.
- Ability to be certified for your department (if applicable)
- Sanitation duties to keep working area clean and organized always.
- Safety is everyone’s responsibility: Identify risks and report violations, near misses or injuries immediately
- Knowledge of GMP’s, safety standards, quality standards and demonstrated ability to react and communicate effectively to issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid Class “A “CDL operator’s license and pass all required D.O.T. requirements for endorsements in driving tractor-trailer vehicles, air brakes, tankers and Hazmat.
- Average to above average attendance and performance/safety records
- Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
- Display a teamwork attitude
- Demonstrate the ability to read, write, and comprehend English with understanding as it relates to job tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively and develop rapport with internal and external stakeholders
- Must be able to work in high places.
- Must be able to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
Physical Requirements
Be able to physically perform all aspects of the position. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Roll 500 lb. barrels
- Lift 40 lbs. on a constant basis and 60 lbs. occasionally from floor to shoulder height.
- When situations arise where you are required to lift more than 50 lbs., It is recommended you use any Company provided equipment that you are qualified to operate, or the lift should be performed by two employees.
- Climb a minimum of two flights of stairs in succession
- Able to bend and stoop.
- Must be able to work in extremely hot, cold and dusty conditions.
- Ability to report to work and stay for duration of the day.
- Have acceptable (or corrected) visual acuity and depth perception. Have acceptable (or corrected) hearing.
- Must be physically able to fit into the space between ricks.
- Must have physical stamina to hook, move, relocate and spot a minimum of 75 trailers in an eight (8) hour day.
