Role Responsibilities

•    Manage the packaging line with an emphasis on improved efficiencies, reduced cost and continuous improvement
•    People management, dealing with employee concerns, job performance issues, discipline, and grievances
•    Attend to production issues, new production items etc. 
•    Coordination of monthly cycle counts
•    Managing materials and spirits inventory
•    SAP transactions
•    Drive Safety, HACCP, GMP, 5S, and Integrated Management Systems (IMS) responsibilities for ISO and OHSAS Standards
•    Identify opportunities for continuous improvement utilizing LEAN manufacturing tools  and principles (Visual Management, 5S, CAPA, Standard Work) and then drive the process to impact the results
•    Use appropriate root cause problem solving (RCPS) techniques to help with operational improvements. Ensure RCPS culture is embedded in operation.
•    Optimize production schedule for efficiency in monitoring inventory for cost effectiveness
•    Administer and control department budget consistent with production requirements, manpower availability, packaging and quality standard
•    Manpower scheduling, time and attendance records; issuing work orders, safe work permits and purchase requisitions; ensure SOP’s, job descriptions required departmental training are current and relevant
•    Maintain cadence for Daily Huddles, Maintaining Visual Boards, Updating and review of KPI files and formal problem-solving initiatives.
•    Month End Reporting: Utilization of SAP to complete cycles
•    Ensure compliance with OH&S regulations, HACCP, ISO standards and excise and transportation regulations (including management of records and documentation)
•    Data entry
•    Cross train in other functional area within the Operations group.

Qualifications

  • Degree in business, science or engineering preferred (a combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • 5-7 years of supervisory experience on a packaging line in a unionized manufacturing environment; beverage, food or chemical industry preferred
  • Experience with administering collective agreements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience with LEAN Manufacturing tools and principles (i.e. Green Belt)
  • Computer literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP
  • Compliance with standard operating procedures, legal and other requirements including health and safety, fire protection, environmental, quality, security and continuous improvement programs is a requirement of the job
  • Mobility to access most areas of a large plant site
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills
