Responsible for the development and implementation of compelling and focused brand strategies delivering exceptional in-market brand and portfolio performance while strengthening brand equity.  The Head of Marketing is responsible for ensuring that the Brand DNA of global and local brands is nurtured and strengthened through brand experiences, communication platforms and innovations that place the rich understanding of culture and consumers at the heart of our work. Balancing this with strong commercial acumen, gained from a Gemba mindset, and an obsession for excellence in execution, the Head of Marketing needs to work with external partners (agencies, customers, distilleries, amongst others), International functions and Brand Houses to ensure that we delight consumers at every touch point through integrated marketing plans.

Role Responsibilities

  • Build marketing capability in Brazil and mentor the SGS global marketing community. Develop succession plans for key marketing roles.
  • Inspire and align global marketing teams behind a culturally relevant growth strategy for the portfolio.
  • Drive “One Suntory Way of Marketing” through capability building: knowledge, systems, leadership, culture, process, structure, and measurement.
  • Deliver financial targets, strategic objectives, and long-term brand equity goals for Brazil.
  • Embed consumer, cultural, competitor, category, and customer insights into brand strategy and execution.
  • Understand customer perceptions and consumer behavior to uncover growth opportunities beyond surface-level data.
  • Ensure global brand strategies are adaptable across cultural and category differences.
  • Link brand strategies and budget decisions to short- and long-term P&L delivery with strong financial acumen.
  • Oversee BI, vendor contracts, and payment management.
  • Collaborate with sales on L2L strategy, POS activities, and brand activation events.
  • Partner with the Master Blender/Distiller to define local brands' House Style and evolve liquid experiences.
  • Protect brand equity by embedding timeless DNA into strategies while balancing short-term business needs.
  • Develop distinctive brand ID and design codes for packaging and communications to enhance saliency and consumer memory.
  • Implement global brand foundations and align portfolio strategy with international regions, Edrington, and Brand Houses.
  • Accelerate global premium brands while nurturing local jewels like Larios and DYC.
  • Align BH 12-Year strategies and 3-Year Strat Plan with brand DNA and market opportunities.
  • Create compelling positioning for local brands tied to modern culture and global communication platforms.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to finalize Brand’s 3-Year Growth Plans and innovation strategy, strengthening DNA and meeting commercial objectives.
  • Lead PBMC performance diagnoses and corrective actions.
  • Deploy impactful, integrated brand experiences focused on “fewer, bigger” initiatives for consumer engagement and trade excitement.
  • Achieve execution excellence, starting with perfect serve experiences and amplified consumer programs.
  • Foster a learning culture by tracking programs and performance against KPIs.
  • Ensure marketing plans support financial targets, including budget adherence and activity phasing for growth.
  • Embed agility in BH strategy execution to address dynamic market and competitor shifts.
  • Provide direction to the Commercial Marketing team (25) for flawless global and local brand execution

Qualifications

  • -University degree- BS/BA or equivalent
  • 15+ years’ consumer marketing experience. Global CPG, luxury brands or spirits experience preferred
  • Business degree (MBA preferred). 
  • Ideally global or cross market brand experience.
  • Demonstrable achievements in growing brands and managing complex brand portfolios within a matrixed organization requiring strong cross functional leadership.
  • Strong commercial experience with P&L responsibility and demonstrated track record of engaging effectively with commercial partners to drive alignment and performance.
  • Has managed and developed teams successfully and, ideally, has experience of leading diverse, global teams and talent.
  • Proven leadership in driving alignment to strategic brand vision within a global matrix organization. Strong communicator and collaborative leader able to engage internal and external stakeholders. Ability to influence and build productive relationships with peers on the Leadership Team and across the company
  • Strategic thinker with solid experience in consumer insights, brand strategy and business analytics. Ability to simplify complex issues and drive focus on a focused number of key issues and opportunities for the brand.
  • Experience in leading and managing the creative brand building and innovation process and fostering productive relationships with agencies, creative teams and cross functional partners. Proven record in partnering with Sales and Commercial leaders to align marketing strategy to commercial goals
  • A track record in bringing new thinking and ideas to a business/brand in order to accelerate growth.
  • Strong Commercial and Financial Acumen with a focus on driving sustainable profitable growth and being astute in all areas of the commercial P&L (product and channel mix, investment, logistics, COGS, pricing) and budget management.
  • Proven ability to build effective teams, coach and develop direct reports in order to strengthen organizational capability.
  • A strong curiosity for and, ideally experience of, different cultures and markets across the world.
