This is a full-time, paid internship (40 hours per week) designed to provide an impactful summer experience.

Role Responsibilities

The Quality Intern will partner closely with distillery operations to support and optimize fermentation processes at Cruzan Rum Distillery. This role blends production exposure with laboratory experience, enabling direct contributions to process improvements.
The intern will also gain hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation including Gas Chromatography (GC), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and Density Meter Analysis (DMA).

Role Responsibilities

  • 60% – Assigned Projects: Lead fermentation and quality-focused projects, including data analysis and process optimization
  • 20% – Networking and Mentoring: Engage with cross-functional teams and industry mentors
  • 20% – Day-to-Day Support: Assist with distillery and laboratory operations

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific discipline (preferred: rising senior)
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Self-starter comfortable in a fast-paced, unstructured environment
  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal and listening skills

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders and navigate stairs
  • Ability to walk moderate distances (up to ¼ mile)
  • Ability to tolerate periods of elevated temperatures
